100 Days: The Beginning
It’s the metric that most presidents are at least initially compared with and now, I’m proposing a new meaning to 100 days as I start a new feature on my blog (at least as you’ve guessed for the next 100 days).
For those of you who are not engaged or not married, beware, the second you are engaged, family members will begin asking you not only the general questions (when is it?), but even more specific ones (where is the brunch the day after going to be held?). Remember it’s only been a second since your engagement. Heck, you probably haven’t even had time to admire the shiny yet, or make sure it fits on your spouse’s hand before these questions start rolling in. This excitement is flattering, infuriating and somewhat scary all at the same time. Most engagements are somewhere in the neighborhood of a year and EVERYONE has an opinion on the appropriate length of time for an engagement.
It is with this in mind, courageous readers, that I introduce a new blog segment to my slightly stagnating blog. One hundred days from my engagement is the end of business hours on October 10, 2009. This would also be just one month (and a few days) less than a year from the possible wedding date. In this 100 years segment, I will be keeping you updated on general plans for the big day. I’m not going to spoil the surprise for those of you that may be attending, but I will be offering some anecdotes and updates on how the planning is going.
So, away we go. Already, one day shy of two weeks since our engagement, we’ve at least sort of cemented a date and possibly a time (kinda have to run that one by the fianceĆ© AKA Allison first). We have some general ideas for the way we want things to run including an officiant, and we even have some more detailed ideas on things like food. I’ve already argued with my mom (mildly – she woke me up and I think we were both grumpy) and left people off the guest list that really should be on there. The project for this week is the guest list, so mind your manners and you’ll end up on the A-list or maybe just on the list. I’m sure I’ll have some interesting things to say about guest list strategy next week.
