Whittier Weekend

Yesterday was the Homecoming game at my alma mater. For those of you familiar with the WC, that means it was also Whittier Weekend, basically alumni weekend. Allison talked me into going and I actually had a pretty good time. It is amazing how much has changed on campus in the last 4 years. The new student center is amazing and I can actually say that we designed it, which is also pretty neat even though I would have preferred to have used it. The football field, once a hard, barren wasteland for bad football is now field turf, making it a nice looking, soft, place for bad football. On the subject of football, we played well for about a half, and then the wheels started to come off. On a positive note, we have a legit looking football coach and we had a bigger team than Pomona-Pitzer, which is certainly new since my years at the WC. All this made me miss college quite a bit. It was just sort of strange to not be the one running down to the game from Turner or Harris. Images follow after the break.

Shortlisted

One of my images from my trip out to the Botanical Society of America meeting in Utah has been shortlisted for an online Utah guide. I don’t get any payment if i allow them to use the image, but it is another way for me to get my stuff out there, so I’m apt to allow them to use it.

The image selected was this one. While I like it, I liked some of my others from that trip more. It’s still a pretty cool thing to have someone ask to use your picture for something.

Dinner!

I’ve been absent from the blog lately and I apologize. As a matter of fact, I’ve thought of several things I’d like to blog about, so hopefully I’ll get to that soon. Thing is, as soon as I say I’ll blog about something, it doesn’t happen, so no promises.

I was inspired tonight by a post on Ryan Brenizer’s blog, an amazing wedding photographer I’ve been following for about a year and a half (maybe more since he’s on flickr too). So, like he said, the key to good looking food is good light. I broke out the strobe for this one.

I present dinner in full color. Yes, I was kinda hungry.
